annan fights back on torture, 11.12.05
annan delivered an interesting speech that just stops short of naming his target but nevertheless reveals the clear position of the UN concerning torture. it responds to recent questions raised in us politics
this is the role i expect the UN to play. to my opinion, world organisations, including the UN have sensibly more weight now than 20 years ago
there is a crusade against the UN. but it is not a general movement, it is clearly led/paid by the US. annan has had more and more guts over the years and has now reached maturity in his position as world wise. actually, against all odds, i would say that annan may outlive george in their repective positions
